Apple CarPlay Gets Major Update for Fall 2019 with iOS 13

On June 3rd, Apple announced a large amount of features coming to iOS 13 this Fall. One of the most anticipated features is the updated Apple CarPlay. Equipped in all EX and above trimmed Honda models, Apple CarPlay is utilized among many drivers. Apple CarPlay allows Honda owners to control their radio hands free using Siri, Apple maps/Google maps/Waze navigation support, Apple music/Pandora/Sirius XM support, and a slew of other applications right at their fingertips. With the new update to iOS 13, CarPlay will gain a number of compatibility and usability improvements, too.

CarPlay Dashboard

An all-new view gives you complete control of a single place to keep track of maps, audio controls, and Siri smart suggestions.

Home Screen Redesign

The Apple CarPlay home screen gets refreshed with a unified look that contains new table view, a redesigned status bar, and a new design with rounded corners.

Album Art in Now Playing

When available, your Honda can show album art on Apple Music to help you find the perfect song, album, or playlist.

Apple Maps Updates

Apple Maps will always appear on the dashboard, even when different points of interest pop up. The brand new map will feature more realistic details for roads, beaches, parks, buildings, as well as a new junction view for highly detailed intersections.

New Calendar App

With the updated Calendar app on the iPhone, it only makes sense to get a great view of your whole day while you’re on the go. Just tap to get directions or dial in to a meeting.

Smarter Siri

Siri will no longer take over the whole screen when speaking a command. This will be very helpful to keep an eye on things like directions while speaking commands. We will also see support for home automation controls in the vehicle like helping to open garage doors when you’re near your home or even your next calendar event.
