How to Change the Clock in your Honda

Daylight Savings is coming! It may be difficult getting use to the time change, but adjusting the time in your Honda has never been easier.

2016-2026 Honda Models

Non-touch screen models:

1. Press and hold the “MENU/CLOCK” button.
2. Rotate the selector knob to choose the hour. Press the knob in to toggle to the minutes setting.
3. Select the minutes. Select “Set” when you’re done.

Touch screen models

Note: Some touch screen models set the clock automatically. Lucky you!

1. From the “Home” screen, go to “Settings” →  “Clock” → “Clock Adjustment“.
2. Adjust the hour and minute values. Select “OK” when you’re done.

2012-2015 Honda Models

1. Turn the ignition to “ON“.
2. Press the clock stem button, located on the instrument panel to the upper-left above the steering wheel.
3. Turn the stem to toggle the hours. Press the stem to toggle to setting minutes.
4. Turn the stem to set the minutes. Press the stem when you’re done, and the clock is set.

2006-2011 Honda Models

1. Turn the ignition to “ON“.
2. Press and hold the “Clock” button until the time starts to blink.
3. Use the “Preset 1” button to change the hour.
4. Use the “Preset 2” button to change the minutes.

For 2006-2011 Models with Navigation:

The clock adjustment in models with navigation is in the settings menu through the navigation.

1. From the SETUP Screen (other), say or select CLOCK ADJUSTMENT
2. Select TIME ADJUSTMENT
3. Adjust the time to the current hour/minute.

1998-2005 Honda Models

1. Turn the ignition to “ON“.
2. Press and hold ONE the following buttons until you hear a beep depending on your stereo:
   • “Clock” or
   • “SCAN/RPT” and “AUX” together or
   • “Sound“
3. The clock should be flashing. Change the hours by pressing “Preset 4“.
4. Change the minutes by pressing “Preset 5“.
   On some models, you may have to use “Preset 5” and “Preset 6” to make the time go up or down.
5. Press and hold the same button you used to begin the time change (“Clock“, “SCAN/RPT and “AUX“, or “Sound”)  to set the set time.

NOTE ABOUT CLOCKS IN OLDER MODELS WITH NAVIGATION THAT RESET TO 2002: 

The clock issue is specific to the models below with navigation systems. The clock shows the incorrect time. This issue is due to a limited GPS receiver capacity resulting in “rollover” of the internal chip memory; the rollover occurred on January 1, 2022 at 12:00AM local time. As a result, once specific triggers are met, the navigation date and time will be incorrect. However, the year cannot be corrected at this time.

Affected Vehicles:

• 2006-12 Accord Coupe and Sedan 
• 2010-12 Accord Crosstour 
• 2006-07 Accord Hybrid 
• 2005-11 Odyssey
• 2006-11 Pilot 
• 2006-14 Ridgeline 

Can the date be adjusted to the correct value manually?

After January 1, 2022, when the system internal calendar is reset to May 19, 2002, the date will always be incorrect and stay incorrect. There is no solution to correct it.

Can the digital Radio/LCD time be adjusted to the correct value manually?

NOTE:

• Verify both the Navigation and Radio code are available before disconnecting the battery.
• 2006–14 Ridgeline units are NOT included in this process (contact your local Honda dealer Service Department for assistance).

1. Disconnect the vehicle’s battery Negative (-) terminal first, followed by the Positive (+) terminal at the exact local time of 12:40 AM/PM.

2. With an accurate source of time to compare to, reconnect the Positive (+) terminal followed by the Negative (-) terminal at exactly 1:00 AM/PM.

3. Turn the vehicle on in Accessory Mode and enter both the Navigation and Radio codes. The digital LCD clock will now keep time from 1:00 AM/PM local time.

On or after August 17, 2022, when the system’s internal calendar recalibrates, the GPS time signal becomes valid again. The clock will show the correct GPS time but most likely be off by 1 hour because the system’s internal calendar interprets the daylight saving time (DST) change incorrectly.

Now, the customer can adjust the time correctly, and it won’t be affected every time the vehicle’s power is cycled off and then on. The correct time will stay on through the next DST change based on the system internal calendar.

What can we do to avoid the time changes to incorrect value again after August 17, 2022?

The automatic DST function will not work properly causing the incorrect time at the perceived DST date. We recommend that after August 17, 2022, the customer sets the “Auto Daylight Saving” function to “OFF” and adjust the DST manually.

Other Affected Navigation Issues:

Navigation History: The display of navigation history including registered location or destination history is not in the latest order. Data newly added is not shown at the top, but at the bottom of the list.

Route Guidance: Navigation detour guidance may not perform properly.

Traffic Information: Updated traffic information may not display on the navigation system properly.
